Trade Me and Long Bay

I bought something else off Trade Me this week. Trade Me is a great site here for buying and selling used items in New Zealand. I had already bought our washer and dryer, changing table, and some clothes for Sophia. I purchased a blender/food processor combo thingy this time. I have been making some baby food for Sophia, and it's getting harder to do that without a food processor. And I wanted to try to make some smoothies for breakfast. I'm getting bored with cereal.

Anyway, I had to go out toward this beach to pick it up, so I decided that Sophia and I could take a walk there while we were out. I forgot my camera so I stole these images off the web. I put Sophia in the front pack and she loved strolling on the beach. It was a perfect day yesterday, sunny and warm and not too windy. We enjoyed being out away from the city (about 30 minutes from home) and looking at the waves and the gross jellyfish that were washed up on shore. I really wanted my camera for that! They were massive! You just don't get that sort of thing on the shores of Lake Michigan. :)

Simple Pleasures

I know this may be really lame, but I was so excited when this avocado peeled out of the skin almost perfectly.  It just made one thing so much easier, which is nice.  And it tasted really yummy!  Aaaaahhhh, the simple pleasures of life.

More Sophia Pics

I really haven't done anything very noteworthy lately, which is why I haven't posted on here.  Here are some photos of the child, who I spend all my days with!  Here are some of the kids in our mum's group last week.  It's quite a feat to get a photo taken of them!

This great dress is one I get to borrow from Julie, and every time Sophia wears it she gets compliments, so thanks Julie!  Here she is in her very lady-like pose.

Speaking of that tongue...we were at the neighbor's for dinner Friday to say goodbye to our other neighbors who are moving out tomorrow, and Travis was drinking a beer and Sophia kept trying to drink it.  

She recently figured out how to make this face.  She scrunches up her nose and that's been her favorite thing to do lately.  When we're out she has been making this face at people instead of smiling at them.  I just tell them not to take it personally.  :)

Nothing Much

We have not had too much going on this week.  Sophia has been sick so we have not done our usual weekly activities.  Poor girl!  Poor Mum...I have not had much adult interaction this week!  Oh well.  I'm sure we'll be back to our activities soon. 

Sophia was playing on her floor the other day, and she has all these colorful fun toys to play with, but she always rolls over to her crib and plays with the little spring there, and in this photo she was playing with my cell phone.  It's so funny she wants to play with the things that are not fun and colorful.  Oh well, at least it doesn't take much to entertain her at the moment.  

This was just us goofing around before heading outside for a while.  Thanks to the McClennys for the cute hat!  I have a hard time keeping the matching mittens on her.  

Completing Projects

As most of you know, I enjoy knitting and crocheting.  I like to have one project in each technique going at the same time, because I like changing things up.  When I get sick of knitting, I can go to my crochet project and vice versa.  The last two projects I worked on, and finally completed, were bigger projects.  I have such a feeling of accomplishment today! 

Ahhhh, my first sweater!  I am not sure how long this took me.  Maybe 2 years.  Maybe less.  I did have a few things going on in the midst of this knitting project (just small things like having a baby and moving across the world, no big deal).  I am just glad I still like it after 2 years!  It looks pretty good for my first one, if I do say so myself.  It is very warm, which is good for this time of year here.  It just has two problems...the sleeves are a bit too short and the body is a bit too long.  Oh well, I wear it with pride anyway, because I made it, and actually finished it.  Thanks Grandma for teaching me to knit!

This is a skirt I made for my friend Krista.  I made one for myself a while back, but it's different colors.  She saw me wearing it, or saw the pattern or something and really wanted one herself, so I offered to make her one.  She bought the yarn and I got busy.  I think this may have been very close to the time I started my sweater.  So, it's been a while, but she is finally getting her skirt!  Her wedding is next weekend, so I am kind of sending this as a wedding gift.  I feel it's cheating though, since she did buy the yarn herself.  Oh well.  There's a whole lot of time and love in that skirt.  Now I just hope it fits.
