Sophia is 5 Months

It is difficult to believe that Sophia is already 5 months old.  She has changed so much.  She spends a lot of her free time on this mat playing with toys dangling above.  She has also been playing in a chair that came with our belongings on our container.  She has way too many toys now!

Here in New Zealand babies get immun- izations at 6 weeks, 3 months, and 5 months (other to come later), so Sophia had more shots (called jabs here) today.  This is one of her bandaids (called plasters here) from the doctor visit.  :(  We actually walked to the doctor's office today, by the way.  It's nice to be able to do that, but I'm very glad it wasn't raining like it was supposed to be.

In her bath robe after a bath one night.  She got to remain free of her diaper (nappy) for a bit longer!

I put together Sophia's highchair the other day.  It attaches to one of our dining room chairs instead of standing free by itself.  She seemed to like sitting in it.  We'll try some food soon!

More Neighborhood Photos

Sophia all ready to go for a walk, which we try to do almost everyday.  She really likes having a look around at everything, especially the trees as we go by.

New Zealand has some of the best playgrounds we've seen.  This one will be fun for Sophia to play on if we still live near here when she's old enough to enjoy it.  

Our Stuff is Here!

We are so thankful that our belongings finally made it to our place last Wednesday!  I wanted to post this earlier, but we were without internet for over a week.  Oh well.  We have been very busy working in the house for the past week.  Everything takes so much longer with a little one!  It amazed us as we carefully unpacked box after box, that none of our belongings were broken.  Not one!  Not one plate or one glass.  For that we are very thankful.  

Our neighbors were very kind and had us over for dinner the day our things came, so we didn't have to worry about that.  

Yesterday Travis moved everything to his office, and today I emptied the last box from the house, so we are making a lot of progress.  Once we get things more organized and pictures on the wall, I'll take some photos of the inside to share.

















And yes, that is Grandma's chair, the most comfortable chair ever! I don't think she ever thought it would make it to New Zealand.

A Walk Around the Neighborhood

We were out for a walk the other day, and I took a few photos as we went to show you a little bit of the neighbor - hood.  Here are a couple photos of the outside of our house.

I'm not sure what that little landscaped section is supposed to be on the corner (it's about as pretty in person as it is on the photo).  :)  That is our driveway on the left and we have a parking space back there.  It's pretty fun trying to squeeze the people mover in there!

Rupa's, the cafe down the street.  It's a nice place to have a coffee or a sandwich or pick up some frozen curries.  It's owned by a nice couple who always chat with Sophia when we stop by.  The coffee here is excellent, by the way.

The neighbor - hood grocery store, New World.  I will probably head to Pack n Save more often because it's a bit cheaper, but this is nice because it's so close.

The Victoria Park markets.  We walked through, but it was pretty touristy (so if you come visit, we can take you there!).  So that's a little walk around part of our neighborhood.  I will take more photos when I go on a different walk and share them with you.
