Summer Time

Sophia had been a bit scared of the water lately. I read about this pool in a magazine, and it's about a 5 minute drive, so we thought we'd try it. It has a nice gradual entrance into the water, so Sophia did very well playing in the pool. We even went into the deep end and she was happy with it. Go Sophia!

Sophia has been having fun playing with her buckles on her stroller.  She can stand there for so long!  It's a good distraction.

Yummy watermelon!

Baby #2

Well everyone, here are some ultrasound pics of baby #2! We found out what it is, so we can have a poll. Actually, I was thinking of more of a betting thing, so I can raise some money to help my mom pay for a flight so she can come here to help when this baby makes it's entry into the world! Anyone want to place bets? :)

I know this is freaky, but I just had to post this!

A Day in the Life...

...of a mother. I'm sure this has happened many times before to many other parents, and much worse than it could have happened to me, but it was still gross. Sophia and I were both napping this afternoon, and I woke up to her crying so went into her room and it smelled like poo. I checked and sure enough, her nappy was off and there was poo in her bed. There was also some poo on her hands and face and dress. Not too bad though. She has not had a dirty nappy in quite a while since we've been using her little potty, so maybe she just thought, "This is gross, I don't want to lay here with poo on my bum," and took it off. I'm just glad she didn't smear it all over the place. Note to self: next time, duct tape the nappy on. :)

Snorkeling

Travis was finally able to take me snorkeling to Goat Island Marine Reserve on Saturday. We were going to go last weekend, but the weather did not cooperate. Unfortunately everyone else decided to go as well so it was a bit crowded, but it was still fun. It was good we went before I got even larger out front! I had to get a wet suit that was too big so I could fit my belly in it. That meant it didn't keep me as warm as it normally would have. And that meant I was cold and ready to get out after about an hour. Poor Travis! He said he could have kept going for another few hours. We saw an eagle ray hiding in the sand and watched it for a while, then it started swimming so we followed it. All of a sudden it just took off really fast and we didn't know where it went. It was so amazing to see something like that up close and in person!

Alisa came over and babysat for Sophia and as you can see, she enjoys being with Alisa. She was really good while we were gone, Alisa said.

Lord of the Rings

Back in early December, when I was still feeling very sick from morning sickness, I got sucked in to watching Return of the King on TV one night.  I'm not sure why I was intent on finishing it on TV, since we have all the trilogy on DVD, and it didn't end until about 1 am.  Well, I finished watching it, and that inspired me to watch all three again.  I had not seen them since they came out in the theatre.

I have to admit, the reason I watched them in the first place was because Travis was into them.  But this time, I watched them because I wanted to.  I still have not read the books, and maybe I will some day.  Anyway, I had much more of a religious experience watching these movies this time, especially with Return of the King.  It just brought to my mind so much imagery from the Bible about the return of our King.

Jesus is portrayed as a warrior King, like Aragorn, in the bible, including Revelation 19:11 and following: "...there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True.  With justice he judges and makes war...The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses..."  And like Aragorn, he will usher in a kingdom of peace.  How I long for that day.  The wars will be over, the world will be made new, and the King will rule with perfection.  Please return soon, our King.

Fun in the Summer

Sophia may not like the ocean yet, but she does enjoy playing with smaller amounts of water.  That's my garden in the background!  We ate a cucumber from the vine on our salad tonight.  Yum!

It has been quite hot lately in the afternoons so we have been playing with some tubs of water out on the back deck.  (Sorry about my talking on the video.  It's kind of embarrassing, but no video editing on my computer!)

Beach Videos

We went to the beach today with Deb and John and I finally went in the water more than knee deep!  We had nice waves to play in.  Sophia, is still a bit afraid of the water, so she just played in the sand.  This first video is of her crawling.  As you can see, she doesn't crawl very normally, but she gets around!

This second video is not very exciting, but earlier she was digging the sand and throwing it in her bucket.  Of course she wouldn't do it for the video.
