Pre-Trip Lists

The girls and I are leaving for the states in a little under one week! Crazy! I am excited and nervous. Who's idea was it to travel with two kids across the world without my Travis? Oh, right, mine. Hopefully the extra week in Grand Rapids will be worth it. And thanks to Crystal (and Pat) who are meeting us in LA! I can't believe what a great friend I have. You rock! I'll be seeing you US people soon. Here's a bit of a list of things I still need to do.
  • Find spare house key (Can't find spare key so...)
  • Make house key (Thank you neighbour Jill for doing that! Oh, owe Jill for doing that so...)
  • Get Jill the money I owe her
  • Get new van key since one broke
  • Don't freak out
  • Get US dollars to take along
  • Call Crystal
  • Pack suitcases (Almost done. The nice thing about packing for a different season is that I don't have to wait until the washing is done.)
  • Don't panic
  • Go out on a date with hubby (Tomorrow night. Thanks Catherine for babysitting.)
  • Throw Jenny's baby shower on Saturday (Prep almost done. Thanks people for helping with the food!)
  • Send in form to New Zealand Immigration to start application for permanent residency (Finished online form, just need to send it before I go. Oh yeah, and amend my parents' years of birth. They are older than I thought. Sorry!)
  • Don't worry
  • Order a few things from Amazon.com (Books are so much more expensive here.)
  • Sleep

Hi there! I just found your blog via Jenny's. I look forward to following along! I am an American expat myself - via Alaska most recently, but I grew up all over the States. I've married a Kiwi and live in Dunedin. Good luck on your journey! May the force be with you!! To go along with your Amazon order, you may want to order a bunch of shoes from zappos.com and have them waiting for you to try on. They have free shipping both ways, so it's risk free! I don't know about you, but when I visit the states, I'm basically a shopping maniac - the choices, the low cost! I have never been a shopper so my family is pretty amused to see this side of me when I visit the old US of A.
