A Night Away
Last Thursday night I spent my first night away from Sophia and we didn't miss each other much. ;) For Christmas Travis told me I could go somewhere and spend the night alone, and he finally made me go and do it. We just kept putting it off and decided last week was the week. I got to spend about 24 hours alone with absolutely no responsibilities except feeding myself and the baby inside me. I did realize, however, that I was not alone. I could feel baby #2 kicking in me quite a bit (should have gone before the baby started moving around so much!). It was very refreshing.
I spent the night in Devonport, which is a town just across the harbour from Auckland. Travis dropped me off at the ferry building and I took the 15 minute ferry ride over there. I walked up to the cute bed and breakfast I was staying in and took a nice long nap. I was able to just wander around outside as it was a beautiful sunny day. I read my book, wrote in my journal, worked on the baby blanket for #2, and met a friend for dinner. I had a good sleep and a nice breakfast made for me the next day. It was so nice and relaxing. Thank you Travis! And seriously, the ferry is the way to travel! It's so much more calming than sitting in traffic.
