Lord of the Rings
Back in early December, when I was still feeling very sick from morning sickness, I got sucked in to watching Return of the King on TV one night. I'm not sure why I was intent on finishing it on TV, since we have all the trilogy on DVD, and it didn't end until about 1 am. Well, I finished watching it, and that inspired me to watch all three again. I had not seen them since they came out in the theatre. I have to admit, the reason I watched them in the first place was because Travis was into them. But this time, I watched them because I wanted to. I still have not read the books, and maybe I will some day. Anyway, I had much more of a religious experience watching these movies this time, especially with Return of the King. It just brought to my mind so much imagery from the Bible about the return of our King.
Jesus is portrayed as a warrior King, like Aragorn, in the bible, including Revelation 19:11 and following: "...there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and makes war...The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses..." And like Aragorn, he will usher in a kingdom of peace. How I long for that day. The wars will be over, the world will be made new, and the King will rule with perfection. Please return soon, our King.
