Cathedral Cove and Hot Water Beach

More photos from our time in the Coromandel! I forgot that I hadn't posted these yet. We really enjoyed Cathedral Cove.
This is us before heading on the walk to Cathedral Cove.  Many thanks to Travis for carrying Sophia all the way there and back.  It is a 30-40 minute hike to get there.  It was a nice trail to walk on, and a beautiful day.

This is the view as we got to the bottom of the trail!  That's my dad about to walk through.

Another beautiful view.  We were wishing we would have brought our lunch down there so we could have stayed longer.

I did bring Sophia's lunch, however.  She enjoyed eating and digging her feet into the sand (she still has sand underneath her toe nails, by the way...oh well!).

We tried going to Hot Water Beach the same day as Cathedral Cove, but the tide was in, so we didn't stay, but came back the next day.  There are these hot springs that bubble up from under the sand and people dig pools to sit in.  It can only be done on either side of low tide otherwise the beach area is covered by water.  Travis started digging for us, and we kept hitting cold water, instead of hot water.  Then the shovel we rented (or hired) broke and some people let us sit in their pool and I dug a bit more.

Our pool wasn't one of the hottest pools, but I was glad because some of them were so hot I couldn't even stand to put my foot in there. This is just such a weird aspect of nature!
